A record of the Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental Conference held on 18 July 1996, written by Ruth Osborne of the Anglo-Irish Secretariat and dated 23 July 1996. Hugh Annesley, Chief Constable of the RUC [Royal Ulster Constabulary], gave a presentation on the background and handling of the Orange Order march and associated events at Drumcree and took questions from the Irish delegation. There was discussion of the review into parades and marches and its remit, and planning for the next session of the multi-party talks. Attached to the record are draft terms of reference for the review into parades and a draft communique about the conference.
