British Government handling plan for 23 July 1996

Writing Peace: The National Archives of the UK (TNA)

1996-07-23

This document contains a plan created by the British Government for dealing with the main issues of the day. These issues included extending support to the Chairmen in their work to produce a draft of the rules of procedure, and engaging with the Irish Government and the SDLP on the agenda of the remaining opening Plenary and the schedule for finishing work before the summer break. The document encloses three other documents - a draft reply to Ian Paisley's letter, a draft resolution on Robert McCartney's point on rule 27A, and a draft plan from the British and Irish Governments on how best to make progress in the talks before the summer break. These documents have been catalogued separately.
