A record of two meetings during the Anglo-Irish IGC [Intergovernmental Conference] on 18 July 1996 between Patrick Mayhew, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, and Dick Spring, Tánaiste, written by Martin Howard, Private Secretary to the Northern Ireland Office, and dated 19 July 1996. The first meeting primarily discussed procedural issues and decommissioning in the multi-party talks, focusing on the SDLP [Social Democratic Labour Party] and UUP [Ulster Unionist Party]. The second meeting discussed the Orange Order march and associated events at Drumcree and a meeting between the Irish Government and Sinn Féin.
