This document provides an account of the various meetings that took place on 24 July 1996. It notes that the Chairman met with the UUP, the SDLP and the DUP to discuss the draft rules. The DUP reported that they were going to table some amendments to the rules the next day, though they were expecting them to be voted down. They also proposed that the delegates make the consideration and adoption of the decision-making clause in the rules the first item of business in the coming Plenary session. Paddy Roche also stated that the UKUP would be tabling amendments, one of which would concern sufficient consensus. The British and Irish Governments also met and agreed to table a paper on the agenda of the remainder of the opening Plenary, which would propose that the parties complete the discussion on decommissioning and the adoption of the comprehensive agenda before the summer recess.
