Letter from John Major to Albert Reynolds, 12 November 1993

Writing Peace: Dermot Nally Collection

Photocopied letter from John Major to Albert Reynolds responding to Albert Reynolds’s letter of 11 November 1993. John Major expresses his concern “at the suggestion that there is some kind of emerging rift between our two Governments” and states “we could not proceed on the basis of the Hume/Adams dialogue”. He emphasises that he has been “intensely active” and “the best hope for peace in Northern Ireland lies in our two Governments working together”. Included is a covering note from Seán Ó hUiginn, to Albert Reynolds, explaining some of the language used.
