Bilateral meeting between the Government Team and the Unionist delegations in an attempt to resolve differences over the location of Strand 2 talks.
Conclusions of Meeting with the Unionist Delegations on 8 May at 11.53am
Clarification of Unionist Position:
- Any meeting in Dublin would have to be during strand three because it would only be at that stage that the Unionists would have a clear impression of the Irish Government's attitude to Articles 2 and 3 and other important matters.
- Unionists maintain that Secretary of State, as convenor of the Talks, should also be the host.
- The only remaining solution seemed to be to hold the talks outside the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
