Robert H. Nugen
(July 16, 1809 — February 28, 1872) Robert Hunter Nugen, a Representative from Ohio; born near Hallidays Cove, Washington County, Pa., on July 16, 1809; moved to Ohio in 1811 with his parents, who settled in Columbiana County; received a limited education; moved to Tuscarawas County in 1828; engaged in agricultural pursuits; contractor; held several local offices; delegate to the Democratic National Convention at Charleston in 1860; elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-seventh Congress (March 4, 1861-March 3, 1863); superintendent of the Ohio Canal until his death in Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, February 28, 1872; interment in Newcomerstown Cemetery.
