William C. Anderson

(December 26, 1826 — December 23, 1861) William Clayton Anderson, (son of Simeon H. Anderson, nephew of Albert Gallatin Talbott), a Representative from Kentucky; born in Lancaster, Garrard County, Ky., December 26, 1826; attended private schools and was graduated from Centre College, Danville, Ky., in 1845; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Lancaster; moved to Danville, Boyle County, in 1847 and continued the practice of law; member of the State house of representatives 1851-1853; presidential elector on the American Party ticket of Fillmore and Donaldson in 1856; unsuccessful candidate for election in 1856 to the Thirty-fifth Congress; elected as a candidate of the Opposition Party to the Thirty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1859-March 3, 1861); was not a candidate for renomination in 1860; elected as a Unionist to the State house of representatives in 1861; died, during the session of the legislature, at Frankfort, Ky., December 23, 1861; interment in Bell View Cemetery, Danville, Ky.
