The Civil Rights Act of 1875

Joseph G. Wilson

(December 13, 1826 — July 2, 1873) Wilson was a farmer, lawyer, and judge. Joseph Wilson was born in New Hampshire and moved to the Oregon Territory after graduating from the Cincinnati Law School in 1852. He served as the clerk of the Territorial Legislature (1853) and later served as an associate judge to the State Supreme Court (1864-1866, 1868-1870). Wilson was elected to the United States House of Representatives as Republican to the Forty-Third Congress. He served only five months before his death on July 2, 1873.
