Henry B. Anthony

(1 April, 1815 -- 2 September, 1884) Anthony was an American editor and politician. Born in Coventry, R.I., Anthony was the editor of the Providence Journal in 1838, later becoming one of its owners. Anthony was elected Governor of Rhode Island in 1849 and was reelected in 1850. Anthony was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in 1858 and reelected in 1864, 1870, 1876 and 1882.
