Samuel L. Casey

(February 12, 1821 — August 25, 1902) Samuel Lewis Casey, a Representative from Kentucky; born near Caseyville, Union County, Ky., February 12, 1821; attended the country schools; engaged in mercantile pursuits; member of the State house of representatives 1860-1862; elected as a Unionist to the Thirty-seventh Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the expulsion of Henry C. Burnett and served from March 10, 1862, to March 3, 1863; retired from active business pursuits; died in St. Joseph, Mo., August 25, 1902; the remains were cremated and the ashes interred in Caseyville Cemetery, Caseyville, Ky.
