| William Jayne | Visualize | (8 October, 1826 -- 20 March, 1916) Jayne was an American doctor and politician. Born in Springfield, Ill., Jayne studied and practiced medicine. From 1859 to 1861, Jayne served as mayor of Springfield. In 1861, Jayne accepted the appointment of Governor of Dakota Territory from President Lincoln (serving from 1861 to 1863). Jayne presented credentials as a Delegate-elect to the Thirty-eighth Congress. | John B. S. Todd | Visualize | (4 April, 1814 -- 5 January, 1872) Todd was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Lexington, Ky., Todd served in the army until 1856 when he settled in Dakota as an Indian trader. Todd studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1861. When the Territory of Dakota was formed he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-seventh Congress and successfully contested the election to the Thirty-eighth Congress.
