The Civil Rights Act of 1875

Martin Maginnis

(October 27, 1841 — March 27, 1919) Maginnis was a journalist, businessman, and politician. Martin Maginnis was born in Wayne County, New York and moved to Minnesota in 1852 where he attended Hamline University. He served in the Minnesota Volunteer Infantry from 1861 to 1865. He moved to Helena, Montana in 1866 and was involved in mining and publishing. He was elected as a Democrat to Congress and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1885.
