United States Nineteenth Amendment and Edmunds Tucker Act

James H. Blount

(September 12, 1837 — March 8, 1903) James Henderson Blount was an American lawyer and politician. Blount was born in Clinton, George in 1837. He graduated from the University of Georgia at Athens in 1858. He then studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1859. During the Civil War he enlisted in the Confederate Army and served as a private and lieutenant colonel. Blount was a delegate to the State constitutional convention before being elected to Congress. He was elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1893.
