William Jackson

(9 March 1759 – 17 December 1828) Major in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, serving on Washington’s staff as Secretary to John Laurens. Nominated as Secretary of the Constitutional Convention by Alexander Hamilton and chosen by the delegates on 25 May 1787. Afterwards practised law at the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and served for a time as personal secretary to George Washington while President.
