James A. Cravens

(4 November, 1818 -- 20 June, 1893) Cravens was an American soldier and politician. Born in Rockingham County, Va., Cravens moved to Indiana in 1820. Cravens served as a member of the State house of representatives in 1848 and 1849 and served in the State senate 1850-1853. Cravens was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-seventh and Thirty-eighth Congresses serving from March 4, 1861 to March 3, 1865.
