The Civil Rights Act of 1875

Charles G. Williams

(October 18, 1829 — March 30, 1892) Williams was a lawyer and public servant. Charles Williams was born in Niagara County, New York and studied law in Rochester, New York. He moved to Wisconsin in 1856, where he was admitted to the bar and practiced in Janesville, Wisconsin. Williams served as a member of the State Senate from 1869 to 1872. He was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served during five congressional sessions from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1883.
