The Civil Rights Act of 1875

John A. Kasson

(11 January, 1822 -- May 18, 1910) Kasson was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Charlotte, Chittenden County, Vt., Kasson studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1842. Kasson practiced in St. Louis, Mo. until 1857 when he moved to Iowa. Kasson was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-eighth and Thirty-ninth Congresses serving from March 4, 1863 to March 3, 1867. Kasson was later elected to the Forty-third and Forty-fourth Congresses then the Forty-seventh and Forty-eighth Congresses.
