The Civil Rights Act of 1875

Zachariah Chandler

(10 December, 1813 -- 1 November, 1879) Chandler was an American businessman and politician. Born in Bedford, N.H., Chandler was the mayor of Detroit in 1851. Chandler was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in 1857, reelected in 1863, and reelected again in 1869 serving from March 4th, 1857 to March 3rd, 1875.
