The Civil Rights Act of 1875

Alexander S. McDill

(March 18, 1822 — November 12, 1875) McDill was a medical doctor and public servant. Alexander McDill was born in Pennsylvania, where he later attended college, graduated from Cleveland Medical College, and practiced medicine. He moved to Wisconsin in 1856 and served as a member of the State Assembly in 1862, and as a member of the State Senate from 1863 to 1864. During that time, he also served as a member of the Board of Managers of the Wisconsin State Hospital. Before being elected to Congress, he was the Medical Superintendent of the Wisconsin State Hospital for the Insane from 1868 to 1873 and in 1875. McDill was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1872 to March 3, 1875.
