The Civil Rights Act of 1875

Charles N. Lamison

(1826 — April 24, 1896) Charles Nelson Lamison was an American politician and lawyer. Lamison was born in Dalton, Ohio in 1826. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1848. During the Civil War, he served in the Union Army as a captain and later as a major. After the war, he resumed practicing law until he was elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 3, 1871 to March 3, 1875. After serving in Congress, Lamison served as attorney for many railroad companies and as the United States land commissioner in 1892.
