John M. Coghlan

(December 8, 1835 — March 26, 1879) Coghlan was an American politician and lawyer. John Coghlan was born in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to California in 1850. He studied law and was admitted to the bar, and practiced law in California. Before being elected as a Republican to the Forty-Second Congress, he served as a member of the California State Assembly from 1865-1866. He served in Congress from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1873.
