The Civil Rights Act of 1875

Boyd Winchester

(September 23, 1836 — May 18, 1923) Winchester was a businessman, politician, and lawyer. Boyd Winchester was born in Parish, Louisiana and moved to Kentucky to study at Centre College in Danville. He graduated from the law department at the University of Louisville in 1857 and was admitted to the bar. Winchester served in the State Senate from 1868 to 1868, when he resigned, having been elected to the United States House of Representatives. He served in Congress from March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1873. After serving in Congress, Winchester continued practicing law in Louisville and became the President of an insurance company in 1875.
