David Clopton
(29 September, 1820 — 5 February, 1892) Clopton was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Putnam County, Ga., Clopton was admitted to the bar in 1841. Clopton was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-sixth Congress and served from March 4th, 1859 to January 21st, 1861 when he withdrew in order to serve as a private in the Confederate Army. Clopton served as a Representative in the First and Second Confederate Congresses, and was appointed judge of the Supreme Court of Alabama in 1884. Clopton served in that role until is death.
