John L. N. Stratton
(November 27, 1817 — May 17, 1889) John Leake Newbold Stratton, a Representative from New Jersey; born in Mount Holly, Burlington County, N.J., November 27, 1817; attended private schools at Mount Holly; prepared for college at Mendham; graduated from Princeton College, 1836; lawyer, private practice; elected as a Republican to the Thirty-sixth and to the succeeding Congress (March 4, 1859-March 3, 1863); was not a candidate for renomination in 1862; delegate to the Union National Convention of Conservatives at Philadelphia, 1866; president of the Farmers' National Bank of Mount Holly in 1875; died on May 17, 1889, Mount Holly, N.J.; interment in St. Andrews Cemetery.
