Alfred A. Burnham
(8 March 1819 — 22 April, 1879) Burnham was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Windham County, Conn., Burnham studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1843. Burnham served as member of the State house of representatives in 1844, 1845, 1850, and 1858. Burnham served as speaker in 1858, Clerk of the State senate in 1847, and Lieutenant Governor in 1857. Burnham was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-sixth and Thirty-seventh Congresses and served from March 4th, 1859 to March 3rd, 1863. Burnham returned as a member of the State House of Representatives in 1870 and held the Chair as Speaker. Burnham died in Windham, Conn. in 1879.
