John A. Nicholson
"(November 17, 1827 - November 4, 1906). John Nicholson was a lawyer, superintendent, brigadier general, and American politician. John was born in Laurel, Sussex County, Delaware, November 17, 1827. He was a superintendent of free schools for Kent County (1851). He studied law in Dover, Delaware and was admitted to the bar in 1850. He was a brigadier general of militia in Kent County in 1861. Nicholson was elected as a Democrat to the 39th and 40th Congresses from March 4, 1865 - March 3, 1869, was not renominated in 1868.
