United States Fifteenth Amendment

Charles R. Buckalew

(28 December, 1821 -- 19 May, 1899) Buckalew was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Fishing Creek Township, Columbia County, Pa., Buckalew studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1843. Buckalew was a member of the State senate from 1850 to 1853 and later from 1857 to 1858 and 1869. Buckalew was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 1862. Later, Buckalew was elected as a Democrat to the Fiftieth and Fifty-first Congresses.
