Worthington C. Smith

"(April 23, 1823 -- January 2, 1894) Worthington Curtis Smith was a(n) iron trader, president of a company, public servant, and American politician. He was born in St. Albans, Franklin County, Vermont. Smith assisted in raising the 1st Regiment in the Vermont Volunteer Infantry, was member of the State house of representatives (1863), served in the state senate (1864 & 1865), and served as president pro tempore of the state senate (1865). Worthington was elected as a Republican to the 40th, 41st, and 42nd Congresses (March 4, 1867 - March 3, 1873).
