William J. Albert
(August 4, 1816 — March 29, 1879) Albert was a businessman, prominent Union leader in Maryland, and a politician. William Julian Albert was born in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from St. Mary’s Collect in 1833. He worked in the hardware business and was a prominent figure in preventing the secession of the State. Albert was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875.
