The Civil Rights Act of 1875

James R. Lofland

(November 2, 1823 — February 10, 1894) Lofland was an American politician and lawyer. James Lofland was born in Milford, Delaware and graduated from Delaware College in 1845. In his early political career, he served as the Secretary of the State Senate (1849), and as a member of the State constitutional convention (1853). Lofland was elected as a Republican to the Forty-Third Congress from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875.
