Edward F. Dickinson

(January 21, 1829 — August 25, 1891) Edward Fenwick Dickinson was an American lawyer, judge, and politician. Dickinson was born in Fremont, Ohio in 1829. He graduated from St. Xavier College, studied law, and was admitted to the bar. During the Civil War, Dickinson enlisted in the Union Army and attained the ranks of lieutenant, captain, and regimental quartermaster. After the war, he served as probate judge of Sandusky County until 1869. Dickinson was elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1871. After his service in Congress, he acted as mayor of Fremont from 1871 to 1875, and again as probate judge of Sandusky County from 1877 to 1879, and 1885 until his death in 1891.
