The Civil Rights Act of 1875

William C. Sherrod

(August 17, 1835 — March 24, 1919) Sherrod was an American politician and planter. William Sherrod was born in Lawrence County, Alabama and began his political career in 1859. He served as a member of the State House of Representatives and served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-First Congress from March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1871.
