Richard Henry Lee

(20 January 1733 – 19 June 1794) Revolutionary, member of the Continental Congress, and U.S. senator. Member of the Lee family, a historically influential family in Virginia politics. Richard Henry Lee is best known for the Lee Resolution, the motion in the Second Continental Congress that called for the colonies' independence from Great Britain. He also served as President of the Congress of the Confederation and was a U.S. Senator.
