United States Thirteenth Amendment 1863-65

John W. Chanler

(14 September, 1826 -- 19 October, 1877) Chanler was an American lawyer and politician. Born in New York City, Chanler studied law in Germany and was admitted to the bar. Chanler was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-eighth and to the two succeeding Congresses until he was censured by the U.S House of Representatives for insults.
