United States Thirteenth Amendment 1863-65

Garrett Davis

(10 September, 1801 -- 22 September, 1872) Davis was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Mount Sterling, Ky., Davis studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1823. Davis was a member of the State house of representatives from 1833 to 1835. Davis was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-sixth and to the three succeeding Congresses and was later in 1861 elected as a Unionist to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the expulsion of John C.
