United States Thirteenth Amendment 1863-65

James Dixon

(5 August, 1814 -- 27 March, 1873) Dixon was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Enfield, Hartford County, Conn., Dixon was admitted to the bar in 1834. Dixon served in the State house of representatives from 1837-1838 and again in 1844. Dixon was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-ninth and Thirtieth Congress and was elected as a Republican to the Senate in 1856, reelected in 1863, serving from March 4, 1857 to March 3, 1869.
