James T. Elliott
"(April 22, 1823 -- July 28, 1875) James Thomas Elliot was a(n) lawyer, president of a railroad company, judge, publisher, public servant, and American politician. He was born in Columbus, Monroe County, Georgia and moved to Camden, Arkansas. Thomas studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1854. He was chosen as a president of the Mississippi, Ouachita & River railroad (1958), established and edited the South Arkansas Journal (1867), and served in the State senate (1870. James also served as a circuit judge of the 6th judicial district of Arkansas (October 2, 1865 - September 15, 1866) and judge of the 9th judicial district in 1872 until 1874. Elliot was elected as a Republican to fill the vacancy caused by the death of James Hinds (January 13, 1869 - March 3, 1869).
