(October 16, 1819 — October 8, 1886) Pike was an American politician and lawyer. Austin Pike was born in Hebron, New Hampshire, where he went to school, studied law, and was admitted to the bar. After practicing law in Merrimack County, Pike served in the State House of Representatives from 1850 to 1852, and 1865 to 1866, and he also served as a member of the State Senate from 1857 to 1858. Pike was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives to the Forty-Third Congress from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875. He later was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate and served from March 4, 1883 until his death in 1886.
