Hiester Clymer

(November 3, 1827 — June 12, 1884) Hiester Clymer was an American lawyer, and politician. Clymer was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania in 1827. He graduated from Princeton College in 1847 and studied law. In 1849 Clymer was admitted to the bar and practiced law in Berks county, along with Reading County. He served in the the State Senate for six years, from 1860 to 1866, when he resigned. Clymer was elected to the United States House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1872, serving for four Congresses from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1881. After retiring from Congress, he worked as Vice President of the Union Trust Company and President of Clymer Iron Company until his death in 1884.
