(15 September, 1811 -- 9 December, 1881) Stebbins was an American banker and politician. Born in Ridgefield, Conn., Stebbins began work in banking after moving to New York. Stebbins was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-eighth Congress and served from March 4th, 1863, until his resignation on October 24th, 1864. Afterwards, Stebbins became the president of the New York Stock Exchange.
