United States Thirteenth Amendment 1863-65

An amendment to the United States Constitution to abolish slavery introduced during the American Civil War.

(16 February, 1818 -- 25 August, 1893) Edgerton was an American businessman, lawyer, and politician. Born in Vergennes, Addison County, Vt., Edgerton moved to New York to study law and was admitted to the bar in 1839. Edgerton moved to Indiana in 1844 and began work in the railroad industry alongside his practice. Edgerton was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-eighth Congress, however, failed reelection.
