(21 September, 1827 -- 10 August, 1880) Shannon was an American politician and businessman. He was born in Westmoreland County, Pa. and moved to California in 1849 where he engaged in mercantile pursuits. Shannon was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-eighth Congress and served from March 4th, 1863 to March 3rd, 1865.
