James S. Biery

(March 2, 1839 — December 3, 1904) James Soloman Biery was teacher, theologist, writer, and politician. Biery was born in Emlenton, Pennsylvania in 1839. After completing his education, he taught school for eleven years. He also studied theology and law. In 1868 Biery was admitted to the bar and practiced law in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Before being elected to Congress, he served in the State House of Representatives in 1869. Biery was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875. After serving in Congress, he continued practicing law and also engaged in literary pursuits until his death in 1904.
