Lloyd Lowndes, Jr.

(February 21, 1845 — January 8, 1905) Lowndes was an American politician, businessman, and lawyer. Lloyd Lowndes, Jr. was born in Harrison County, Virginia (now in West Virginia). He attended Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, and graduated from the law department of the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia in 1867. Lowndes was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875. After serving in Congress, Lowndes returned to Maryland where he worked in banking and served as Governor of Maryland from 1895 to 1899.
