James C. Freeman

(April 1, 1820 — September 3, 1885) James Crawford Freeman was a farmer, businessman, and banker. Freeman was born in Jones County, Georgia in 1820. He worked in agriculture until 1865, when he moved to Griffin, Georgia and worked in the mercantile business and banking. Freeman was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875. After serving in Congress, he moved to Atlanta and worked in the mercantile industry until his death in 1885.
