Selucius Garfielde

(December 8, 1822 — April 13, 1881) Garfielde was an American politician, lawyer, academic, and businessman. Selucius Garfielde was born in Addison County, Vermont and moved to the Washington Territory in 1857, after living in Ohio, Kentucky, and California. While in Kentucky, Garfielde was engaged in the newspaper business and served as a member of the State constitutional convention in 1849. After moving to California, he served as a member of the State House of Representatives in 1852, and was elected by the State Legislature to codify the laws of the State in 1853. Garfielde was elected as a Republican to Congress from March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1873.
