Abijah Gilbert

(June 18, 1806 — November 23, 1881) Gilbert was a businessman and politician. Abijah Gilbert was born in Otsego County, New York. He later moved to Florida in 1865 to pursue mercantile and business pursuits. He was elected to the United States Senate as a Republican. Gilbert served in Congress from March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1875.
