IN THE FINAL STAGES OF EDITING A series of talks launched by Peter Brooke, Secretary of State for Northern in Ireland, which began in April 1991, and were carried on intermittently by Brooke and his successor, Patrick Mayhew, until November 1992.

Sir Oliver Napier. Born 11 July 1935; died 2 July 2011. Served as the first and only Legal Minister and head of the Office of Legal Reform in the Northern Ireland power-sharing executive set up by the Sunningdale Agreement. Founding member of the Alliance Party. Joint Leader of the Alliance Party, 1970-72; sole Leader of the Alliance Party, 1973-1984. Delegate to the 1996-1998 multi-party talks, and a member of the support team. He was also a delegate to the Northern Ireland Forum for Political Dialogue for North Down.
