(29 April 1745 – 26 November 1807) Lawyer and judge, selected as a delegate to the Continental Congress during the Revolutionary War. After the Constitutional Convention he became a US Senator for Connecticut and then Chief Justice of the United States.

(7 October 1727 – 14 November 1819) Lawyer, Colonel in the Connecticut militia, slave owner, state legislator and judge. He rejected his election to the First Continental Congress and sought a compromise between Britain and colonists prior to independence. After the war he joined the Congress of the Confederation and then the Constitutional Convention. He later served as a US Senator for Connecticut and President of King’s College (Columbia University).

(19 April 1721–23 July 1793) A former cordwainer, land speculator and surveyor, Sherman took up the law in 1754. He was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, justice of the peace, member of the Governor's Council of the Connecticut General Assembly, and Justice of the Superior Court of Connecticut. After the Constitutional Convention he was elected to the US House of Representatives and the the Senate.
